Carina Women’s Shed came about when one local woman was in search of a community
kiln for pottery firing… she asked a friend who replied “The Men’s Shed have one” …they
both looked at each other and knew... “We need a Women’s Shed!"
Women who want to learn and grow their skills to develop confidence in their own abilities is something worth working towards.
So with that Cr Lisa Atwood set up a community meeting at the Carina Bowls Club in February 2023. Hundreds of women turned up in support of the idea. From there a committee was formed and we’ve been working hard ever since to provide Brisbane's first ever purpose built womens shed to our community.
